Charles Grodin was born on April 21, 1935, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. He was born to Orthodox Orthodox parents, Theodore I. Grodin and Lena. His father, Theodore, was a salesman, and his mother, Lena, worked at the family store. He was the second son of Theodore and Lena. His older brother, Jack, is no longer in this world.

Through his studies, he studied at the University of Miami. However, he dropped out of high school to pursue a career in acting. Later, she studied acting at HB Studio.
